We are in the kitchen. The kitchen.

Cue music.

[Announcer] So this is the kitchen.

[Announcer 2] Kitchen time.

We're in the kitchen!

[Chrissy] We really use the shit out of this kitchen.

This is our gorgeous kitchen

with our beautiful oak cabinets. My idea.

Oak, yes. I wanted maple.

[airy music]

[airy music continues]

I love these lighting fixtures right here

because they remind me of those underwater scuba gear

from the 19, I don't know, thirties and forties,

but they're just beautiful.

I love, love, love the finish on these cabinets

and the black and white.

You'll see a lot of that in the house too.

The floors are painted and stained in black and white

and it's just makes me happy.

And if you can't be happy in your own home,

how the hell are you gonna be happy anywhere else?

[RuPaul chuckling]

[airy music]

I plan to do my Italian Sunday dinner here.

Meatballs, tomato sauce.

I don't cook anything.

He does not cook anything.

No, eggs. I cook eggs.

Maybe eggs. Eggs, yes.

He plays dumb a lot too, so that's why, right?

Some of it isn't playing.

[Anna chuckling] Yeah.

When the house fills up with our four kids

and maybe a couple friends, it's a little chaotic,

but a lot would be on the island.

[Anna] Well, that's why we wanted a big island,

because we have a lot of stools

and everybody can sit around here

[Ray] And hopefully, you know, grandkids soon.

Yeah. So we built this for future grandchildren.

Yeah.

So hopefully they'll see this at some point

and know this is all for them.

They're not here yet.

They're not even twinkles in anyone's eyes.

Yeah. But two of our kids are engaged to get married.

Yep.

And I told them I'm putting a prize, a bounty out,

for the first grandkid.

I'm going to college tuition.

Although we're gonna do that anyway.

Yeah, we're gonna do that anyway.

So maybe, I don't know.

They're not gonna go to college.

Neither did their parents.

Oh Gosh.

[both chuckling]

Who are we kidding?

[upbeat music]

I love mixing materials.

The floor is being terracotta and being reclaimed,

and then having the butcher block counters on one side

and then having this slab.

And I wanted to be able to have something sturdy

and yet have something that is aesthetically beautiful.

So we went with a dolomite.

It's very textured.

It's not smooth, it's not super polished.

It's got a honed finish on top,

so that allows for it to feel like, yummy and kind of, ugh.

I don't know, sometimes I like to just lay on it.

It's really nice to lay on.

Ah, it feels so good.

All the hardware from the faucet to the knobs even,

which are a little bit more modern, they're unlacquered.

So, with time they will age and get more beautiful.

I love this fridge.

It was such a big like great find for me

because it's very high tech.

If you can notice right here,

there's a little button in the floor that says door open.

Hold on, hold on.

Here we go.

So you have all the groceries, you just... Damn it.

[door chimming]

And it'll knock you outta the way.

It works every other time. Boom.

[classical music]

This is kind of like my dream kitchen.

We have our ovens.

We have our stoves here.

We got a French top.

We got some burners, a plancha, a fryer.

We got really beautiful pots and pans from Made-in.

We had a giant butcher block pass created.

We don't have a lot of space on the ground,

but we have a lot of height,

so creating a pass with shelving.

We'll have plates on the outside.

We'll have some ingredients and smallwares up top.

Fridges lining the entire pass.

This is gonna be for fish butchery in the back corner there.

And then we have our hearth,

which we bricked all the way to the ceiling.

'cause I thought it looked great.

This is gonna be a steak and seafood restaurant

that serves a lot of vegetables.

I want the vegetables to shine just as much as a lobster,

just as much as prime rib.

[lively music]

We are in the heartbeat of our home.

Obviously, we spend so much time in here.

We can watch TV from here.

It's a fully functional working kitchen.

[John] Yes.

I think, like, when we go to other people's homes,

we're like, Oh my God,

you can tell that when they don't use it.

Honestly, we have all four ovens going quite often.

Yeah. So, we actually have two down here, two over there,

and then we have a microwave over there,

and an espresso machine.

We are literally using all these things all the time.

We're doing big meals, having friends over.

We have Thanksgiving here, Christmas here.

We do everything.

We always wanted to have a home

where it would be like an open door

for our friends and family.

What we love about it, too, is it's not really precious.

This can take such a beating.

I mean, we normally have a cutting board on here

that everyone sees my kids on top of.

All these burners going.

I will say it is a very sensitive fire alarm.

Oh yeah. Our smoke alarm is sensitive.

For anything!

So we had to make sure this hood, it was good...

Keep us safe though.

Because, yes, it's trying to keep us safe.

I understand, but I wish it would try little less.

It's going too hard. It's going too hard.

Try a little less.

Have some faith in us that we would wake up.

[John chuckling]

[upbeat music]

So here's the kitchen.

I don't do too much cooking.

Shout out to my chef, Ryan.

Prepares unbelievable meals for us all the time.

You know, I talk about having the team over a lot.

You know, that's kind of my mindset around this house

is, you know, make a place that's inviting

and have areas where you can, you know,

talk and chill with each other.

And this is one of the areas where,

you know, that tends to happen.

You know, it's very spacious.

Two islands in here, the marble top.

Very cohesive. I love how they hit off of each other.

And some fresh picked limes from the backyard.

[classical music]

And then we move into the kitchen.

When I bought the house,

this kitchen was very, very different.

It was all white.

There were red knobs on all the cabinetry.

And during the pandemic, I was home so much, I was like,

This would be the time to do a remodel for the kitchen.

And so I took it upon myself to have a project

and put it all together.

I wanted the floors to feel kind of Italian.

We did the tavertine.

I opened the shelving up.

And this tile

is actually leftover tile from the remodel of my bathroom,

and it was sitting in the basement

and I was like, That would work perfectly.

So, put that here.

Made it just really earthy.

There's a lot of plants, there's a lot of fruit.

I have an abundance of citrus and avocados.

I don't really cook that often.

Once in a blue moon it happens.

[airy music]

[Julius] We love this giant island

with this Calcutta porcelain on it. It's beautiful.

[Viola] This is where we cook Thanksgiving.

Huge pot of greens and mac and cheese.

Her greens are off the chain.

You good? Yep.

Especially during Thanksgiving, our favorite holiday,

this is magic.

Conversations, dancing while we eat.

And you know what?

Most of the time that's what happens in here.

People come to the kitchen

and you're trying to get 'em to go other places.

Everybody's in the kitchen around the island.

[Viola] We had a dance party one year.

We actually had a dance party during Thanksgiving.

People start dancing

and I was screaming at the top of my lungs.

[Viola] Julius was a DJ.

I was a DJ.

We're the fun and this kitchen is fun

when good food is cooking in here.

Yeah.

[both chuckling]

[lively music]

When we got the house,

this was like one of the rooms

that I fell in love with immediately,

and there were already so many

incredible qualities about it.

The floors, this epic stove.

I just found it to be so, so, so, so, so beautiful.

We added this island here

and these bistro chairs, they're from Serena and Lily.

There's sort of, you know,

they bring kind of like a Parisian vibe to the entire room.

As you can see over here,

there is a ton of depression ware everywhere in this house.

This all belonged to my grandmother, my dad's mom,

and she collected this depression ware.

And I actually, I had it for years, and years, and years

hidden behind doors and cabinets and whatnot.

And the moment that Claire Thomas saw this, she was like,

Oh my gosh, this is the inspiration for the entire house.

So that's really beautiful.

I also, I should say that I love this sink.

You shouldn't look inside of it, but it is so deep.

I will demonstrate it with my hand.

So that's... I'm now at the bottom of the sink.

So it's a very deep sink, which is fantastic

because you can put a lot of dishes in there

and you don't have to deal with it

until it's peeking out of the top.

Don't tell my kids I said that

'cause I would never let them get away with that,

but definitely a selling point.

[whimsical music]

So this kitchen is open.

Very airy, very light.

Honestly, I don't know what this is,

but my husband wanted it.

Never used it but looks stunning in a kitchen.

Makes it seem like it's a gourmet kitchen.

Is it a gourmet kitchen? One day.

But it isn't right now

because I'll tell you who hasn't cooked here yet.

My husband.
